Ms. Moore and I were very excited to welcome all of the students back to school this week. It has been wonderfull hearing about all of their spring break adventures!
Here are some of the learning outcomes/activities the students have explored this week:
Literacy
- We started our week by writing in our journals about our spring break.
- During centres, we started a new reading comprehension centre.
- We also created stories at another new literacy centre.
Math
- The students are now learning how to do subtraction! So far, we have used a number line and dots to help us subtract.
Social Studies
- We have started to learn about the past. On Wednesday, we learned about some of the original inhabitants of Alberta. Through our discussions, the students will examine how clothing, transportation, housing, etc.. have changed throughout the years.
Reminders for Home
- Please ensure you are asking your child questions about their home reading books after they read them to you. If your child's reading sounds choppy, please have them continue to practice reading the book orally (aloud) until it sounds smooth and has expression.
- Swimming forms came home yesterday.
