Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope that you enjoyed some of the beautiful weather outside this weekend. Here are a few of the learning activities we completed last week:
Journals:
We have continued to write in our journal every Monday. At this point in time, we expect students to complete about 5 sentences within 25 minutes. After writing, they are to edit for sight words and punctuation. We have also been working on adding descriptive words. Have your child point out the "juicy" words in the work below.

2. Blends/Digraphs:
We worked on r-blends last week, including: br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr, wr. As a class we discussed words that include each blend. Then, students selected a word and wrote a descriptive sentence about it.
3. Gingerbread Writing:
Most students have now finished their good copy of their Gingerbread writing! Here are some examples:
Another Example:
4. Social Studies:
We have been learning about community helpers. Ask your child to name a few for you. We also created riddles about community helpers.
5. Science: We worked with Ms. Mann's class to begin designing our Leprechaun traps. The students were required to brainstorm what their trap will look like and materials they may need.
6. Letter to Home:
We wrote to someone at home on Friday. Please remember to return your child's letter to home book to school the following week.
Urgent Request:
We still require lots of materials for our building unit. If you have any cardboard boxes (cereal containers, Kleenex, etc...) we would love them! Please DO NOT send any breakable materials to school.
Reminders:
- Fun Lunch on Friday, March 16
- We skate on March 20, 21 and 22
- Early dismissal on Thursday, March 22 at 12:00
